This is the signature apartment in a turn of the century home that was turned into apartments in the 1920s. This is the only one of the 4 that has been completely gutted and turned into a contemporary loft. It has french doors opening onto a large treetop level deck overlooking a garden with pond and stream. This is the apartment that I designed for myself. It is both wonderful and a bit eccentric. The space is entirely open, but there is a part of the loft that forms a second room that is quite private; both visually and aurally separate from the rest of the space. Most adults have to bend over to enter that part of the space. The house borders on an alley that has the feeling of a country lane down which you will find the local (wonderful) grocery Store, Everybody's. There are free bikes for getting around or enjoying the 17 mile bike loop that circles the town.
This is the smallest of the 4 apartments. It opens onto the ground floor deck that spills out into a parklike yard with a small stream and pond that sometimes has frogs. The property is surrounded by huge sycamore tree. You have your own section of deck and a BBQ. Like the other apartments you have free use of bicycles to explore the town and the lovely bike path that circles the town. There is access to a washer and dryer in the basement. It's an easy walk to the town square, the local grocery store and the university.
The house is across the alley from the main house on Court St. This house fronts onto Main St. When it went up for sale in auction I couldn't resist adding it to the mix. I had great fun making it beautiful. It has an unusually large kitchen and I think the cherry countertops were a big success. The outdoor patio has a pond and a dreamy park like view of the three giant sycamore trees across the alley. There are two comfortable bedrooms with queen size beds and bedding arrangements for two more people. The bathroom is off of one of the bedrooms so that affects privacy a bit. The alley between the house feels like a country land. It has the feeling of being in the country even though it is right downtown. There are bicycles to use on request.
